Web Slinging 4.7.15

Here's what I've been reading as I've swung around the web: David Platt had a great post over on OnFaith on the topic of the how the church battles the pornography problem. He wrote, "I don’t think my words are sufficient to make anybody stop watching pornography, but I believe God’s Word and the gospel are more than sufficient." People of God, we need to not only hear His Word but apply it to our hearts and lives. Here is help.

Verge posted a 36 minute video of characteristics of effective missional leaders. It's worth you time, if only to start to recognize your own blind spots.

Ben Trueblood had a post on leadership in youth ministry. He uses the St. Louis Cardinals as his example. As much as it pains me, as a Chicago Cubs fan, to admit; he has a point. Ben wrote, "Your long-term effectiveness in student ministry is directly connected to the strength of your leadership farm system." While he's writing specifically to youth ministers, I believe his words are applicable to all areas of ministry.
