Intentions vs. Distractions in Parenting

In his book Faith and the Modern Family, Craig Jutila encourages parents to schedule uninterrupted time together with their kids; basically the opposite of what Martha was doing in Luke 10:38 - 42. He writes:

Despite Martha's good intentions, she was consumed with her work, distracted by the details and preoccupied with performance. (pg. 72)

How often is that true of us, parents? This is why Jutila encourages parents to schedule uninterrupted time for the family, free of anything that you would hinder communication and fellowship.

He then ends the chapter with a word of encouragement:

What matters is not how fast you move but the direction you move. (pg. 74)
