Last week, right before T4G started, The Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood hosted a "pre-conference." Here are the best things I heard: Ligon Duncan - "Complementarianism [is defined as] God created man and woman equal [in His image], with different roles. Egalitarianism diminishes God's design."
Russ Moore - "The devil is opposed to the mission of the Gospel. He is opposed to manhood and womanhood. He is opposed to biblical authority."
Kevin DeYoung - "What does it mean to be a man or woman? Start with the image of God, then identity in Christ."
Eric Mason - "Deal with your strongholds (2 Cor. 10:3-6). Tear them down. Deal with your past. Reconnect with God."
John Piper - "We are all evil apart from God...There is no lesser or greater. All people are sinful."
David Platt - "Singleness is a gift [that allows one to] focus on the mission [of the church], undistracted by affections, [with] undivided attention."
Al Mohler - "The Gospel is our only solution to human confusions."
Danny Akin - "[We need to] cultivate a theology for the glory of God."
(These were all taken from my notes and the words in brackets were added for ease of reading.)
There were 2 more sessions I missed due to an important phone call. I left this pre-conference a little bummed about missing the ending but greatly encouraged and challenged.
